Traffic Safety Plan

The school parking lot is available for teachers and parents. Street parking around the school is marked by signs. The parking lot is the only dropoff and pickup area for students at the beginning and end of the day. For early dismissals or tardies, parents must park their vehicle in the parking lot and report to the office. Do not park in the car loop or the fire lane.

All parents and visitors must report directly to the office. The sidewalk from the parking lot has a directional sign. There is a sign on the office building identifying it from the parking lot. The directional flow of traffic is marked on the map. There is one entrance/exit to the parking lot.

The bus loop is clearly marked, and it is for bus traffic only. No personal vehicles may pull up to the school in the bus loop.

Dropoff on St. Charles Road is highly discouraged. Two-way bus and car traffic on the street, coupled with the lack of crosswalks in front of the school, makes dropping students off on St. Charles Road more dangerous than following the parking lot dropoff route.

At the end of the school day, parents may drive through the parking lot loop. Students who go home by car stay in the gym and are then delivered to their cars after IDs and authorization to pick up are checked. Parents who wish to may park, walk up to the side door and sign students out from staff in the gym (with their ID) instead of driving through the loop.
